The Hallaca
The hallaca is the traditional signature holiday dish in Venezuela. Making it is an all-day labor and takes over 6 hours to make, but this Venezuelan tamale is worth the wait! Handmade masa (corn dough) is stuffed with a delicious guiso – beef, pork, or chicken stewed in annatto, capers, onions, bell peppers and olives – and wrapped in plantain leaves before it is boiled to perfection.
